Linux Mint
Our labs (Leonard Hall Rm 110 and 112, Collaborative Energy Center Rm 209) have machines that dual-boot Microsoft Windows 10 and Linux Mint.
Linux Mint is a free distribution of the Linux operating system, based upon Ubuntu linux (which is itself based upon Debian linux).
Linux Mint can be downloaded and installed directly, but be aware that our lab machines have additional libraries and support packages installed.
We do have a Linux Mint VM (Virtual Machine) image available for download, which runs under the VirtualBox hypervisor. The virtual machine has a username 'csci2020', the password is 'CSCI2020', all without quotes. The VM image is identical to the Linux Mint image that is installed on the lab machines.
The virtual machine image has the following additional packages and apps installed on top of the generic Linux Mint system:
