There are three kinds of computers used in three different classes of applications: (i) personal computers, (ii) servers, and (iii) embedded computers.
Personal Computers (PCs) A PC is designed for use by an individual, usually incorporating a graphics display, a keyboard, speakers, and a mouse. |

Servers
A server is used for running larger programs for multiple users, often simultaneously, and typically accessed only via a network. Servers span the widest range in cost and capability. At the low end, a server may be a personal computer, and at the other extreme it could be a supercomputer.
