BREW includes the following special features:

• Qualcomm designed the BREW platform from the chip out instead of scaling down a product developed for PCs or PDAs.
• It supports other languages beyond native C/C++, including alternative execution environments such as Java and XML.

The BREW client software serves as a common denominator across all types and tiers of devices. It exposes a common set of application programming interfaces (APIs) for standardized development of wireless applications.

The BREW client can act as an extended platform for other environments (such as VMs) and allow any type of browser (HTML, WAP, cHTML, etc.) to run on BREW as an application.

BREW connects the mobile marketplace value chain with a full offering of products and services dedicated to a global marketplace for wireless data.

The value chain includes i) application developers, ii) publishers, iii) content providers, iv) device manufacturers, v) operators, and vi) customers.
