Mobile Handheld Devices

There are two kinds of mobile handheld devices:

Smart cellular phones are voice-centric devices with information functions, such as Apple's iPhone.

PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) are information-centric devices with voice capabilities, such as Palm Tungsten E2.

Tablet PCs belong to the category of PDAs because both have similar functionality. Two tasks are usually performed by mobile users:

• Apply the embedded functions such as an address book provided by handheld devices.
• Interact with mobile applications such as Web browsing by using mobile handheld devices.
